Tried to work on the blog this morning but the “free wi-fi” at this campground is almost non-existant. The bandwidth here is very limited. After 4 hours, I had uploaded two pictures so I gave up.
Drove to Yellowstone this afternoon and saw an eagle.
There were many picnic and camping areas throughout the park. I was fascinated with these tiny flowers.
The park suffered a devastating fire in 1988 where 36% of its forestry burned. It is slowly recovering.
The Yellowstone River runs through the park.
We then toured the geysers and geyser basins and saw the water bubbling.
The flowing of the water from the geysers creates varied patterns in the rock below.
Fred liked this clock in one of the shops.
We and many other people waited 1-1/2 hours for Old Faithful to get recharged and erupt. From our vantage point we really didn’t see the spikes of water but saw a lot of steam.
Had a quick supper at the park and then started heading out of the park looking for wild life. We saw several buffalo groups and several areas of elk. It seems that the wild life come out more from 6 pm til dusk.
So cool...the steam is incredible...and the pics are gorgeous. I love the buffalo.
