Adjusted our clocks to the new time zone. Fred called Campers World re the generator. They suggested he go to a local generator fellow. Went there and within one half hour, everything fixed. Seems the gas in the generator gets old and turns to varnish. The fellow cleaned the needle valve and all is well. He gave Fred some stuff to put in the gas tank before Dazy-D sits for a while. He also suggested that when we travel, to run the generator and Dazy-D's air conditioner instead of the Ford air conditioner, it saves gas!
Here's a pic of the Madison KOA we stayed at. Very nice people and place.
Stopped at a cheese place, Ehlenbach’s Cheese Chalet. Checked out the Wisconsin cheese and checked out the store. Bought some cheese and other stuff.
Fred bought some corn and cantelope from a local vendor in the parking lot. Both were excellent.
Headed west on Route 90. Took a little detour to the Wisconsin Dells area. Town of about 2400 with over 5 million visitors per year. Called the waterpark capital. Pulled in front of a Best Western and went online to see what the Dells was all about. Would have loved to take the boat ride but was raining.
Saw this rock formation along the way which is similar to the formations in the Dells that one sees on the boat ride.
Saw some signs for ski slopes but didn’t see any mountains. Saw some very black dirt but couldn’t stop for a picture. Farther west in WI, the topography became like Ulster county with hills and rolling land, farms, etc.
Molly has been a very active sleeper during our trip. She has, however, asked to go outside several times, for short periods of time. Glad to see her doing that.
We crossed the Mississippi about 3 pm. There was a wing dam set up where we crossed. A wing dam is a manmade barrier that, unlike a conventional dam only extends partway into a river. These structures force water into a fast-moving center channel which reduces the rate of sediment accumulation, while slowing water flow near the riverbanks. It also provides a deeper center channel for boats to go through. You can see the wing dam in the background of the picture.
The eagle was reintroduced into this area after near extinction by the use of DDT. Didn't see any though.
Lots of corn fields here in Minnesota, lots of corn fields here in the USA!!
Saw fields of wind turbines by Dexter, MN, probably running the farms and feeding the grid. Too many to count, on both sides of the road, as far as you can see. Took this pic while we were driving in the rain.
Staying at Yogi Bear Jellystone Park in Austin, MN. Seems most of the nice campgrounds are Yogi Bears. Rather have KOAs myself.
Did laundry, chatted with a very nice woman, and worked on the blog for you, dear Amy! Hope you are enjoying it.
Sorry, Rob, not seeing any birds yet except some Canada Geese and mourning doves.
Hope others are not bored to death!! Till next time...
Hey cheesehead!
