Cabella's

Sunday, September 6, 2009

It's a while time since I wrote. On Wednesday, September 1, we went back to Salt Lake City to do more research. We met up with two spectacular gals from the state of Washington, Laura and Doreen, who we had met on our visit a few weeks ago and researched with them each day at the Family History Library. They are terrific, we all got along so well. We also met another couple from Missouri, Tom and Mary Ballard, two wonderful people. We spent a few evenings with them sipping wine and getting to know each other. They had the movie RV and we all cracked up over the antics of new RVers. Laura and Doreen may come east next year, and we hope to stop and see Tom and Mary on our way home.

The towns out here put big initials on the mountains for the town. Here is a pic of the big B for Bountiful, Utah. In some areas they run big sprinkler systems to grow grasses for the cattle.

I was surprised to see two signs out here I haven't seen in years, one for Chevron gas and one for Phillip 66 gas. Took a quick pic while traveling.

Today we went to Lehi, UT, to the Cabella's store. I had never been to one so we enjoyed looking all around the store at the exhibits. Fred wanted a new pair of binoculars which he got.

Upon entering the store there was a large display of Rocky Mountain wildlife: moose, elk, pronghorns, goats, sheep, grizzlies, etc. I love the little prairie dogs, this display showed one going down the hole, cracked me up!.

Elk can have typical or atypical racks. Typical racks have the points growing nice and even. Atypical racks have spikes appearing every which way. This store had the world's record non-typical elk on display.

Aren't these white-tailed squirrels cute?!

We're off to do more research this week. Then to the Utah State Fair next Sunday.
